Your Guide to Doing Waste Management Right with Park's Garbage

At Park's Garbage, doing our job efficiently hinges on our customers following a few basic guidelines. We encourage you to follow these general rules when preparing your trash to be hauled away:

  • Parks offers 96-gallon wheeled trash carts to all its customers. These carts are leased. They are Parks property and must be returned.
  • Make sure all trash is bagged and that each bag is securely tied prior to trash pickup.
  • To avoid spills or leaks, do not overfill trash bags. Consider double-bagging if necessary.
  • Bags should weigh no more than 35 pounds each. Remember, your trash haulers are lifting these bags all day, every day!
  • We do accept trash bags alone on the curb, provided that all bags are securely tied and weigh less than 35 pounds.
  • Sharp objects, such as needles, razor blades, broken glass and knives should be placed inside of durable plastic bottles, sealed with tape, marked accordingly, and then placed in the trash.
  • Place all bagged trash curbside the night before your scheduled pickup day. Note that if your trash is not curbside in time for your scheduled pickup, a “go back” charge may apply for us to pick up your trash that week.
  • Allow a minimum of four feet of clear space on either side of your trash bin when placing it curbside. Be aware of parked cars, mailboxes, and other objects that could impede the trash truck’s ability to freely maneuver around your trash bin.
  • Do NOT place trash bins behind or near parked cars.
  • If you anticipate needing additional trash pickup or recycling services for a given week, please call 814-542-4751 and communicate your expectations with one of our trained customer service staff members.
  • While we can guarantee a regularly scheduled pick-up day, we cannot guarantee a regularly scheduled pickup time, due to uncontrollable circumstances that arise from day-to-day.
  • Double-check your immediate surroundings when placing your trash bin curbside for trash pickup service, realizing that anything within 10 feet of the collection area may be collected as trash.
  • Display your address prominently at your service location. This not only aids our collection crews but emergency vehicles as well.
  • Parks cannot be responsible for loss of or damage to personal trash cans. We strongly recommend our customers use the durable wheeled carts we provide.
  • From time to time, Parks audits its routes to ensure the best possible customer service.

Cancellations or Delays

We attempt to maintain the same scheduled service days each week unless otherwise noted. Inclement weather, natural disasters or emergencies outside our control occasionally cause delays or cancellations to our services. (Any cancellations or delays are posted on the top of our home page and are updated regularly.) When delays in service occur, our crews will continue to run all accessible routes as normal and continue into the following day until the entire route is complete. We make every effort to provide service as scheduled, as conditions and circumstances allow. We are unable to adjust your bill due to cancellations or delays.

Trash Cart Repair or Replacement

If your Parks cart needs repaired or replaced, contact us online or call 304-724-1834. Please remember, the customer is responsible for the maintenance and cleaning of the wheeled carts. Parks will charge a fee for any wheeled cart in need of repair or replacement due to negligence or misuse. Any damage caused by normal wear and tear will be repaired by Parks at no charge. Trash carts and recycling bins remain the property of AVW and are provided to our customers for the duration of service.

Cancelling Your Service

If you plan to move, cancel or transfer your service, you must notify us in advance by calling 304-724-1834 or emailing our office at info@applevalleywaste.com. All cancellations will require an email request to be sent to info@applevalleywaste.com to include billing name, service location and updated billing and contact information for final invoice. Unless we are notified in advance, you will remain responsible for the accrued monthly charges. Refunds due will be processed within 120 days of cancellation
